Hello, hello

It’s that time – that post-graduation find-a-real-job become-an-adult time. It seems as though all of my friends have up and run off to other countries, escaping the crushes of the failing American economy. And here I am, committed to the home I am living in and the people that I am living with, stuck in the United States. But, as miserable and difficult as it can be, this is where I really feel like I need to be right now. There’s so much of me that I am still working through, so much that I still need to figure out, so many cultural ruts that I need to break out of, all of which I couldn’t do, at least for now, anywhere else. So, here I am to stay, at least for a couple of years. And as friends all write me about the blogs they will keep and the emails they will send as they travel through foreign lands, I realized why does someone need to go somewhere to share their thoughts. For me, staying here after college, not moving away to some place on another continent to work with the poor is what is foreign. So, what I am going to try to do is send out an email or blog posting once a month (maybe more, but I don’t want to get too ambitious) telling of tales from my travels, travels into a foreign place: post-college life in America.

I love you all.

Eric
